Major Entrance Scholarships

  • Chancellor’s Scholarship: One valued at $36,000 ($9,000 x four years)
  • President’s Scholarship: Two valued at $30,000 each ($7,500 x four years)
  • Founder’s Scholarship: Two valued at $24,000 each ($6,000 x four years)

If you are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident studying full-time at a Canadian secondary school, you can apply for the university's Major Entrance Scholarships. These awards are given to applicants who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement, and exceptional leadership and community involvement.     

Please note: Only one application is required to be considered for all three awards.

  • Criteria
    • A minimum 85 per cent in best six 4U or 4M courses.
    • Personal leadership activities: e.g. excellence in extracurricular activities beyond academic requirements, and/or significant contributions to community or family.
    • In your final year of high school, entering your first undergraduate university degree.
    • Canadian citizen or landed immigrant.
  • Application process

    1. Complete the online application.
    Printed application forms will be discarded.

    2. Applications must be submitted no later than Saturday, March 2, 2019.
    Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed, nor will applicants be notified.

    3. Submit a maximum of two reference letters: one community and one school.

    5. Successful applicants will be notified in May.

    Please note: To be considered for this award, you must have an official application to the university on file. Please apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre by Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

  • Reference letters

    Reference letters are used as an important means for determining the quality of your application. In order for your application to be complete, you must submit a maximum of two reference letters; one community and one school. To ensure your reference letter is accepted, please review the reference guidelines.

    Community reference

    Your community reference should be written by someone other than a family member or close friend, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements. Where possible, this reference should be written on official letterhead.

    School reference

    Your school reference must be written by a teacher, counsellor or principal, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements. This reference must be written on official letterhead.

    References must be submitted no later than Saturday, March 2, 2019.
