Global Leadership Award

One valued at $72,000 ($18,000 x four years)

The recipient of this international student award will be outstanding academically and have made notable contributions to extracurricular or community activities. 

  • Criteria

    • An excellent academic record ('A' average or equivalent grading based on the high school evaluation where you are studying).
    • Personal leadership activities: e.g. excellence in extracurricular activities beyond academic requirements, and/or significant contributions to your community or family.
    • In your final year of high school, entering your first undergraduate university degree.
    • Must be studying in a high school outside of Canada.

    Please note: If your Canadian immigration status changes, the value of the award will change.

  • Application process

    1. Complete the online application.
    Printed application forms will be discarded.

    2. Applications must be submitted no later than Saturday, March 2, 2019.
    Late or incomplete applications will not be reviewed, nor will applicants be notified.

    3. Submit a maximum of two reference letters: one community and one school.

    4. Submit completed reference letters.

    5. Successful applicants will be notified in May.

    Please note: To be considered for this award, you must have an official application to the university on file. Please apply through the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre by Wednesday, January 16, 2019.

  • Reference letters

    Reference letters are used as an important means for determining the quality of your application. In order for your application to be complete, you must submit a maximum of two reference letters; one community and one school. To ensure your reference letter is accepted, please review the reference guidelines.

    Community reference

    Your community reference should be written by someone other than a family member or close friend, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements. Where possible, this reference should be written on official letterhead.

    School reference

    Your school reference must be written by a teacher, counsellor or principal, who has observed you in your public life and is aware of your various involvements. This reference must be written on official letterhead.

    References must be submitted no later than Saturday, March 2, 2019.
